Abu Bakr Supermarkets has today (23 July) announced the launch of the Abu Bakr Supermarket Community Awards, a new initiative dedicated to “recognising and celebrating individuals who go above and beyond to make a positive difference within their local communities,” it said.
The awards will honour everyday heroes from across Yorkshire, including students, teachers, parents, volunteers, carers, neighbours and community champions whose “kindness, dedication and selfless acts have had a meaningful impact on the lives of others.”
Each selected recipient will be recognised as an Abu Bakr Community Hero, and will receive a commemorative trophy along with a specially prepared Abu Bakr Supermarket hamper.
The initiative reflects Abu Bakr Supermarket’s long-standing commitment to supporting the communities it serves, reinforcing the belief that acts of kindness, compassion and service deserve to be recognised and celebrated.
Community members will soon be invited to nominate individuals who inspire others through their actions - whether that’s supporting local charities, mentoring young people, helping neighbours, excelling in education or making their neighbourhood a better place to live.
Hamza Hussain, MD, said: “We believe the true strength of our communities lies in the people who quietly make a difference every single day. The Abu Bakr Community Awards are about shining a spotlight on those unsung heroes who give their time, support others and inspire positive change without expecting anything in return.
“Whether it’s a student who has overcome adversity, a teacher who has changed lives, a parent who goes the extra mile or a volunteer serving the community, we want them to know their efforts matter and are appreciated. We hope these awards inspire even more people to look after one another and strengthen the communities we are proud to serve.”
Details on how to submit nominations, will be announced in the coming weeks through Abu Bakr Supermarket’s social media channels and in-store.
