Figures just revealed for the 13 weeks to 24 May 2025 have shown growth of 5.4% for Booker in its core retail sales.
The figure represents £2,309m sales for the quarter - a like-for-like sales change of 4.1% - and is attributed to general customer satisfaction, the report says.
Ken Murphy, Tesco chief executive, was understandably pleased with the result. “We’re pleased with our performance across the first quarter. Our continued commitment to delivering great value, quality and service for our customers has contributed to like-for-like sales growth across all parts of the Group.”
“In the UK we’ve continued to see market share gains and increased customer satisfaction across a wide range of measures, a reflection of our powerful value proposition, strong availability and focus on product quality and innovation.”
Alongside Tesco’s own results, Booker’s figures were bolstered by fine weather, as well as “strong symbol brands performance”. However, its 2% like-for-like growth in core retail was impacted by the decline in tobacco sales, it said.
