According to data from online retailer Haypp’s fourth annual Nicotine Pouch Report, large numbers of UK vapers are now switching to nicotine pouches, suggesting a major transition taking place amongst nicotine consumers.
The report, based on a survey of more than 2,000 nicotine pouch consumers, found almost seven in ten nicotine (68%) pouch users say they started using pouches to quit smoking, vaping - or both.
43% of those surveyed said they started using pouches to stop smoking, while 40% began to quit vaping. Across these two groups, 15% were trying to quit both.
The top three reasons nicotine consumers choose to use pouches were health, discretion and the low impact on those around them.
Dr Marina Murphy, senior director of scientific affairs, said: “For many adult nicotine users, pouches represent an alternative to products that involve inhalation, whether cigarettes or vapes.
“Britain is undergoing a significant transition following the implementation of the disposable vapes ban last year and the Tobacco & Vapes Act this year. The changing dynamics of the market means more people are exploring different nicotine products, with pouches becoming an increasingly popular choice.”
