Post Office SPAR Bowness 1

The opening of the new Spar Post Office counter, which sees longer hours of opening for the community.

Spar Bowness is the new location of the town’s Post Office after the retirement of the postmaster at the previous site in St Martin’s Parade.

The team at Spar Bowness have moved quickly to accommodate the new Post Office counter in the store on Rayrigg Road, with the full range of Post Office services retained in the relocation.

Launching the new counter has also meant enhanced opening hours for it. Now open from 8am-6pm seven days a week, this is an additional 23-and-a-half hours of Post Office service every week.

A celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony was held to mark the relocation and opening with the store team and partnership managers from the Post Office and James Hall & Co. Ltd, owners of Spar Bowness.

Rob Langford, Post Office network manager at James Hall & Co. Ltd, said: “This has been an excellent piece of partnership work. I’m very pleased we’ve been able to move quickly to ensure continuity of service for customers in Bowness-on-Windermere who have a brand-new Post Office counter in their local Spar store.

“The new counter is just a three-minute walk away from the centre and we also have a better car parking arrangement at our store, which we feel will be of benefit to customers.”
