Retailers Gavan and Helen Wall, who operate six Spar and two Eurospar stores across north and west Belfast, have just added to their portfolio.
Lat week, they celebrated the relaunch of their new Eurospar in Springfield Road, taking their store count to eight.
The new-look store replaces the former supermarket purchased by The Wall Group (TWG) from its previous owner, Brendan McKee, back in September 2025.
The latest refurbishment represents a £1m investment into the community from the new owners, as well as bringing 20 new jobs, meaning there are now 65 team members from the area employed in-store, with the premises now standing at 5,844 sq.ft.
The store provides the area with a new own brand Walls Foodhall Butchery counter and a food to go deli serving hot breakfast and lunch, in addition to a new Subway counter.
It also boasts everyday essentials on top of a host of local grocery suppliers, own brand fresh ranges, an increased selection of Spar Bakery and local suppliers including the recently introduced Pattons Bakery, as well as larger offerings of both dairy and fresh produce.
The new site has also increased opening hours for shoppers’ convenience and now trades 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Phase two of the refurbishment is also being planned with further investment to come in the near future to upgrade parking, fuel pumps and store access.
Serving customers
Gavan said: “We’re committed to the communities within which we operate, and are delighted to add another Eurospar to our network of stores, providing local jobs and supporting local producers and suppliers.
“Our new opening hours have already been so beneficial with a number of late-night workers in the area, including those from The Royal Victoria Hospital which is within a stone’s throw to the amazing new store.
“We’re looking forward to phase two of the refurbishment which will redevelop the exterior of the store including relocating its pumps, new external imagery and increased car parking space.”
Despite only owning the store for under a year, TWG have already made an impact on their local community, fundraising for Eurospar NI’s official charity partner, Cancer Fund for Children, and we have plans to continue to raise funds for the organisation which works with families to empower young people impacted by cancer.”
Cameron Hughes, store manager, added: “We have a fantastic team here and we all look forward to deepening our connection with the local community and developing our engagement and fundraising activities, while providing outstanding customer service daily for our shoppers.”
Richard Ash, sales director at Henderson Group, concluded: “It’s fantastic to see the new features, offers and products come to life for our local shoppers at Springfield Road. TWG is a perfect example of passionate retailers with a network of community stores, continuing to make a positive impact while serving their community. We wish the whole team good luck for the future of this fantastic store.”
