The Jet forecourt in Restalrig in Edinburgh has finally reopened, now encompassing a newly revamped Premier convenience store.

It follows a six-month closure and major redevelopment, delivering a significantly enhanced forecourt and convenience offer for the local community.

The site reopened to the public on Friday (27 March) with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by legendary former Hibernian FC player Pat Stanton.

Operated by Rajan Sood of RJ Fuels Ltd, the site has undergone a full transformation, with only the original canopy and external shop building structure remaining. The redevelopment brings the site in line with the latest JET brand image, alongside a “completely modernised store designed to better serve local customers.”

Inside, the premises has been fully refitted and relaunched as a Premier convenience store, supplied by Booker. While the overall footprint has only slightly increased, a complete redesign of the layout has more than doubled the retail offer, significantly improving both range and customer flow.

Food to go is central to the new proposition, with Fife Creamery providing hot and cold food, alongside a Stephens Bakery counter, Rollover hot food, Savage Kitchen’s fitness-focused ready meals and Lavazza coffee. This is alongside a wider convenience range tailored to local demand, as well as an on-site catering kitchen, with freshly prepared sandwiches and hot food also set to be introduced.

As part of the redevelopment, the site has invested in advanced retail and security technology in collaboration with RETaiL, supporting a safer environment for both customers and staff.

The AI-enabled system is designed to help identify suspicious behaviour, alert staff in real time and provide in-store messaging to deter theft.

Commenting on the reopening, Rajan Sood, director at RJ Fuels Ltd, said: “This is a complete transformation of the site, and we’re really proud to be reopening and welcoming the community back. After being closed for six months, it’s been great to hear such positive feedback from local customers - particularly around the improved shop and food offer. We’ve created a space that better reflects what people want from a modern forecourt.”
