Vape retailer VPZ strengthened its position as a responsible and credible authority on vape regulation following three formal parliamentary meetings held yesterday (28 October).
The talks took place following the first Committee Stage of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill in the House of Lords.
Across all three meetings, there was broad political alignment on the key enforcement weaknesses in the upcoming bill.
Central to discussions yesterday was the issue of Big Puff devices, pre-filled pods and untested liquids. The three meetings “provided a platform for detailed dialogue with lawmakers on the practical realities of enforcement and the limitations of current testing regimes,” VPZ said.
The topics discussed detailed everything from pre-filled pods and imported devices in the UK market, potential amendments needed in the bill, as well as a debate on the importance of ”practical, implementable policies over theoretical restrictions that may be difficult to enforce.”
Jamie Strachan, group operations director at VPZ, said: “Yesterday’s meetings with Lords and MPs reinforced the importance of practical, evidence-based regulation in the vape sector.
“We’re committed to working constructively with lawmakers to ensure that products are safe, compliant, and responsibly marketed, while also supporting measures that genuinely protect young people and the environment.”
